Moving Checklist

Simplifying your move-in & move-out process.

Moving can be a stressful time

These helpful moving checklists can help make that easier.  Whether you are coming or going, these simple lists provide a foundation for a successful move.

Move-in Checklist

We’re excited to welcome you to your new home. Please use the checklist below as a guide for a smooth introduction to your rental experience:

Last Month’s Rent Deposit

As per the lease agreement, we kindly request that you provide the last month’s rent at the time of signing. This deposit will be held in escrow and applied towards your final month’s rent when the lease term concludes.

Move-in Date & Inspection

Once your lease is signed, we’ll coordinate with you to set an official move-in date. After you move in, we’ll perform a move-in inspection to document the property’s condition and ensure everything is in good repair.

Booking Moving Truck & Moving Elevator

To ensure a smooth move-in process, please book your moving truck well ahead of your move-in date, after confirming the date with JDN. If you’re moving into a building with an elevator, please reach out to the condo management office of the building to reserve the elevator.

Utilities

Your lease agreement outlines the utilities you’re responsible for paying, and some may require you to set up an account directly with the utility provider. To avoid any delays or issues, we suggest contacting the utility companies at least five business days before your tenancy start date to ensure that all accounts are set up and ready for you.

Updating Mailing Address

To ensure you receive all of your mail at your new address, please take the necessary steps to update your address with all relevant establishments. Additionally, you may want to consider signing up for Mail Forwarding through Canada Post to redirect your mail to your new address.

Move-out Checklist

We’re sorry to see you go, but we understand that all good things must come to an end. As you prepare to move out and embark on your next life adventure, we hope you find this move-out checklist helpful.

Notice of Intent to Vacate

Should you decide to end your tenancy after your fixed-term lease expires, please give us a minimum of 60 days’ notice to vacate, with the notice period ending at the conclusion of your billing cycle. To provide this notice, you can request an N9 – Notice to End Tenancy from JDN.

Booking Moving Truck & Moving Elevator

To ensure a smooth move-out process, please book your moving truck well ahead of your move-out date. If you’re moving out of a building with an elevator, please reach out to the condo management office of the building to reserve the elevator.

Property Condition

It is your responsibility to return the rental unit to a similar condition as it was when you first moved in. To ensure a smooth move-out process, we will conduct a move-out inspection before the end of your tenancy.

Please make sure to take care of the following tasks:

Cleaning: Give special attention to the kitchen and bathrooms, making sure to clean shower/tub silicone/grout, inside toilet bowls, and kitchen appliances. Empty all cupboards and closets, removing all garbage from inside the property.

Outdoor Areas: Make sure you’ve fulfilled all of your seasonal maintenance responsibilities as outlined in your lease agreement, such as lawn/garden care and snow shoveling. Properly dispose of all garbage in accordance with the municipal by-laws of your region.

Repairs: Take care of any damage that occurred during your tenancy. This includes patching holes, replacing light bulbs, and painting, if necessary. If the property has substantial damage, please contact our office for assistance.
